We are going to talk to do a KWIC activity, which stand for “Kernel, Widen, Illustrate, and Conclude).
In the first step, which is Kernel, you will speak about desertification in UAE and think about the causes logically.
In the second step, which is Widen, you will imagine that you are gardeners, and how would you concern about this problem, and think about its effects and how would you solve them.
In the third step, which is Illustrate, you have to look for statistics around the world and think about causes and effects, and how they are different compared to UAE.
In the final step, which is Conclude, you will need to think about solutions as gardeners to protect your country from this issue. You can present your solutions by writing a letter to RAK Municipality telling them your suggestions “Mubark Ali Alshamsi”.
The class will be divided into four groups.
Each group will take a part from the KWIC to do it collaboratively.
After you finish, turn to the next group untill you finish the four activities on each group
I will provide you with the letter sample for the fourth group to write a letter.
You will be assessed on rating scale based on your letter.
